About Our Organization

History
AMAPA, which stands for Affiliated Martial Arts Promoters Association, is the oldest and most innovative sport karate league in the Bay Area. AMAPA was established in 1982 by prominent promoters who came together to create a circuit, where competitors could compete with the ultimate goal of attaining the prestigious Division Championship and the honorable AMAPA Competitor of the Year Grand Championship Belt.

Back in 1983, sport karate tournaments were hosted without any coordination from promoters. Tournaments overlapped each other and competitors segregated from each other. Professor Max and Professor Del came up with an idea to bring all of the promoters together. They all coordinated a tournament season with an objective to have a point system and an end of the year banquet. Our first promoters of the Affiliated Martial Arts Promoters Association in 1983 were Max Pallen, Del Dela Cruz, Patrick Salientes, Anthony Daniels, Percy Woods, Luther Secrease and Moses Arizmendi. Since then, some of the most influential sport martial artist promoters have been officers and members like; Tony Ramos, Carlos Navarro, Wolf Hillsheim, Manuel Gonzalez, Mo Lama, Joseph Pallen, Max Pallen Jr, and much more.

We take pride in the opportunity to take AMAPA to the next level of excellence, not only in martial arts competition, but in the martial arts industry.
